After being inspired by Susk and Banoo's blog post about their manly version of the Purlbee's Lovely Ribbed Cowl, I made a manly version of my own for my boyfriend! Ben trusts my judgement when it comes to fashion, so I knew that he would wear this somewhat unconventional for some men cowl, despite the doubts from my mom.
Ben loves the cowl! I gave it to him on Monday, and I literally have not seen him without it since. It was the perfect knitted gift for him - it looks great with casual clothes and his business attire, and it's comfortable enough to wear inside the house and warm enough to brave this -40 degree weather we've been getting in Chicago.
Knitting it was such a breeze! The simple pattern was perfect for lazy days watching movies with my family. For Ben's cowl I used Cascade Pacific worsted weight yarn and size 8 circular needles. I casted on 152 stitches instead of 156 to adjust for the needle size change, and I knit it to 14" instead of 16". I would highly recommend this pattern to anyone who has a chilly neck!
